Kaziranga National Park in Assam is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, renowned for its population of the endangered one-horned rhinoceros. Spanning lush grasslands, wetlands, and dense forests, it also shelters tigers, elephants, wild water buffalo, and a rich variety of birdlife. Day 1: Arrival in New Delhi
Upon arrival at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, you will be welcomed and transferred to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time, you can explore some of Delhi’s iconic landmarks, such as India Gate, Humayun’s Tomb, or Qutub Minar, or relax at your hotel. In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner introducing you to India’s diverse wildlife and the adventure ahead. Overnight stay in Delhi.
Day 2: Flight from Delhi to Guwahati – Transfer to Kaziranga National Park
After an early breakfast, you will take a flight from Delhi to Guwahati, the gateway to Northeast India. Upon arrival, embark on a scenic 5-6 hour drive to Kaziranga National Park, home to the world’s largest population of one-horned rhinoceroses. Check in at your wildlife lodge and relax. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Assamese folk dance performance before dinner. Overnight stay in Kaziranga.
Day 3: Elephant Safari and Jeep Safari in Kaziranga
Begin the day with an early morning elephant safari in the Central Range of Kaziranga, offering close-up views of rhinos, Asiatic elephants, swamp deer, and other wildlife. After breakfast at the lodge, enjoy some leisure time before heading for an afternoon jeep safari in the Western Range, known for its high density of rhinos. Keep an eye out for wild buffalo, hog deer, and various bird species. Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay in Kaziranga.
Day 4: Jeep Safaris in Eastern and Central Ranges
After breakfast, embark on a morning jeep safari in the Eastern Range, a birdwatcher’s paradise with wetlands attracting migratory birds such as pelicans, storks, and the endangered Bengal florican. In the afternoon, explore the Central Range on another jeep safari, increasing your chances of spotting tigers, leopards, and wild boars. The evening is free for relaxation at the lodge. Day 5: Tribal Village Visit and Tea Garden Tour
Today, after breakfast, visit a nearby tribal village to interact with the local Assamese communities and learn about their traditional lifestyle. Later, take a guided tour of a tea estate, witnessing the process of tea cultivation and sampling fresh Assam tea. After lunch, enjoy leisure time or opt for a nature walk along the Brahmaputra River, where you might spot the endangered Gangetic river dolphin. Overnight stay in Kaziranga.
Day 6: Jeep Safari in Burapahar Range – Optional River Dolphin Safari
In the morning, take a jeep safari in the less-explored Burapahar Range, featuring hilly terrain and dense forests, home to hoolock gibbons and a variety of birdlife. In the afternoon, you can opt for a boat safari on the Brahmaputra River to spot river dolphins and aquatic wildlife. Return to the lodge for a peaceful evening. Overnight stay in Kaziranga.
Day 7: Final Safari & Leisure Time
On your last day in Kaziranga, enjoy one final morning jeep safari in your preferred range to maximize your wildlife sightings. Spend the afternoon at leisure, relaxing at the lodge or revisiting the tea plantation. In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner, reflecting on your wildlife adventures in Assam. Overnight stay in Kaziranga.
Day 8: Kaziranga to Guwahati – Flight to Delhi & Departure
After breakfast, drive back to Guwahati. Depending on your flight schedule, you may visit the famous Kamakhya Temple or enjoy a short Brahmaputra River cruise before heading to the airport for your flight to Delhi. Upon arrival in Delhi, you will either connect to your international flight or be transferred to a hotel for a short rest before departure. This marks the end of your incredible Elephant and Rhino Safari adventure in Kaziranga.
