Central India Jungle Safari (Khajuraho -Panna - Bandhavgarh - Kanha - Pench)

Panna National Park, located in Madhya Pradesh, is a scenic wildlife sanctuary known for its successful tiger conservation efforts. The park’s diverse landscape, featuring plateaus, gorges, and the serene Ken River, is home to leopards, gharials, sloth bears, and a rich variety of bird species. Its cascading waterfalls and dense teak forests make it a captivating destination for nature lovers.

 

Bandhavgarh National Park, nestled in Madhya Pradesh, is renowned for its high density of Royal Bengal tigers, offering some of the best wildlife sightings in India. Its diverse terrain of Sal forests, grasslands, and rocky hills provides a stunning backdrop for a rich variety of wildlife, including leopards, deer, and over 250 bird species. The ancient Bandhavgarh Fort and its surrounding caves add a historical and mystical charm to this wildlife haven

Kanha National Park, one of India’s finest tiger reserves, is known for its sprawling meadows and diverse wildlife. Home to the rare Barasingha (swamp deer), along with Bengal tigers, leopards, and wild dogs, it offers exceptional safari experiences.

Day 1: Arrival in New Delhi

Upon arrival at Indira Gandhi International Airport, you will be greeted and transferred to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time, you can explore Delhi’s historical landmarks, such as Humayun’s Tomb, Qutub Minar, and India Gate, or relax at the hotel. Overnight stay in Delhi.

 

Day 2: Delhi to Khajuraho – Exploring the Temples

After breakfast, you will take a flight to Khajuraho, famous for its UNESCO-listed temples known for exquisite carvings and intricate sculptures. Upon arrival, you will check in at your hotel before exploring the Western and Eastern groups of temples. The evening will be spent enjoying a sound and light show narrating the history of Khajuraho. Overnight stay in Khajuraho.

 

Day 3: Khajuraho to Panna National Park

After breakfast, you will drive to Panna National Park (approximately 1 hour), a lesser-known yet spectacular tiger reserve known for its rocky terrain, gorges, and the Ken River. After checking in at your lodge, you will embark on your first jeep safari to explore the diverse wildlife, including tigers, leopards, gharials, and numerous bird species. The evening is at leisure, with an optional visit to Pandav Falls. Overnight stay in Panna.

 

Day 4: Exploring Panna National Park

Today, you will enjoy morning and afternoon safaris in Panna, exploring its unique dry deciduous forests. Apart from spotting tigers, you may also see sloth bears, jackals, and hyenas. Between safaris, you can take a boat ride on the Ken River for a chance to spot crocodiles and migratory birds. The evening is reserved for relaxation at the lodge. Overnight stay in Panna.

 

Day 5: Panna to Bandhavgarh National Park

After breakfast, you will drive to Bandhavgarh National Park (approximately 5-6 hours), known for having one of the highest tiger densities in India. Upon arrival, check in at your wildlife lodge and enjoy the serene surroundings. You can attend a wildlife documentary session in the evening before dinner. Overnight stay in Bandhavgarh.

 

Days 6,7 & 8: Exploring Bandhavgarh National Park

For the next three days, you will experience thrilling morning and afternoon jeep safaris in the Tala, Magadhi, and Khitauli zones. Apart from tigers, Bandhavgarh is home to leopards, sloth bears, and various species of deer. A visit to Bandhavgarh Fort and Shesh Shaiya, an ancient rock carving of Lord Vishnu, can be arranged between safaris. Evenings are spent at leisure with cultural performances or conservation talks at the lodge. Overnight stay in Bandhavgarh.

 

Day 9: Bandhavgarh to Kanha National Park

After breakfast, you will drive to Kanha National Park (approximately 6-7 hours), one of India’s most picturesque and well-managed reserves. After checking in at your lodge, the evening is free for a nature walk or relaxation. Overnight stay in Kanha.

 

Days 10,11 & 12: Exploring Kanha National Park

For the next three days, you will enjoy morning and afternoon safaris in the Kisli, Mukki, and Kanha zones, where you may encounter tigers, Indian wild dogs, leopards, and the rare barasingha (swamp deer). Between safaris, you can visit the Kanha Museum and nearby tribal villages. Evenings will be spent enjoying bonfire gatherings, folk performances, or storytelling sessions by expert naturalists. Overnight stay in Kanha.

 

Day 13: Kanha to Pench National Park

After breakfast, you will drive to Pench National Park (approximately 4-5 hours), the inspiration for Rudyard Kipling’s “The Jungle Book”. Upon arrival, check in at your jungle lodge and enjoy a relaxed evening, with an optional village walk or a sunset view by the Pench River. Overnight stay in Pench.

 

Days 14: Exploring Pench National Park

Today, you will embark on morning and afternoon jeep safaris through Pench’s teak forests and open meadows, looking for tigers, leopards, wild dogs, jackals, and a variety of birdlife. The evening is reserved for leisure at the lodge or a wildlife discussion with naturalists. Overnight stay in Pench.

 

Day 15: Pench to Nagpur – Flight to Delhi & Departure

On the final day, you will drive to Nagpur (approximately 3 hours) for a flight back to Delhi. Depending on your departure schedule, you can opt for a short city tour or relax at a day-use hotel before your international flight home. This itinerary ensures an immersive wildlife experience while covering the rich cultural and historical sites of Central India.

Things to carry: Face Mask and Pocket Hand Sanitizers are must during the Safaris.

  • Carry your id proof given at the time of booking the safaris (compulsory).
  • Comfortable loose clothing, preferably cotton and full sleeves for summers
  • Warm Clothes, Gloves for Chilly early morning safaris.
  • Muted color clothes, which blend with the surroundings, no loud colors.
  • Sunscreen to protect yourself from sunburn and tan.
  • Mosquito repellant / Odomos to protect from insect bites.
  • Reusable bottle of water, since we discourage the use of plastic/ disposable bottles.
  • Light quick bites like peppermints, nutribars etc. for long safaris. Nothing liquid or semi-liquid to be carried.
  • Comfortable footwear, preferably sports shoes.
  • Personal medication, if any.
  • Portable easy to carry torch.
  • Binoculars are helpful for distant sightings and birding.
  • If you are carrying a camera, please carry spare memory card and battery.
  • A Bandanna or a Scarf is helpful to protect yourself from sun.
  • Good comfortable hat / cap as you will be wearing it for a long time
  • Pocket diary and pen to make notes of the sightings and behavior.
