Responsible tourism is key to safeguarding the animals, Birds and their habitats. Being aware of jungle safari etiquette is vital for ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience. By adhering to the right behaviour, we contribute to protecting the environment and wildlife. Understanding the Wildlife

In India we have Designated National parks and Tiger reserves, its directly under the forest ministry of our country and regulated by The Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972 and The Wildlife Protection (Amendment) Act, 2002.

Before embarking on a jungle adventure, it’s crucial to familiarize yourself with the wildlife you might encounter. Take the time to learn about the species commonly found in the area and their behaviour. This knowledge will help you interact safely with wildlife and avoid potentially hazardous situations.

Its also important to understand that National Parks and Tiger Reserves or for that matter any forest areas are not just about the large wild animals like, Tigers, Leopards or Elephants, but its much more than that, it’s a world of its own, with many species of small and large animals, Birds and insects. One should observe the bio diversity of the jungle, the kind of trees, Shrubs, Bushes, water bodies which play a crucial role in the survival of the habitants of the area.

Always remember, wild animals are unpredictable, so it’s essential to keep a safe distance. Always respect their space and observe them without interfering with their natural surroundings.

When going on a jungle safari, it’s crucial to adhere to specific rules and regulations to help preserve the beauty of nature and avoid disturbing the wildlife. Below is a list of essential Do’s and Don’ts to follow during a jungle safari.

 

 

 

Dos and Don’ts when on Jungle Safari

There are some dos and don’ts that should be noted when on a jungle safari. These include:

Do’s

  • Always be on time for your safari.
  • Dress appropriately – wear colours which blends with nature viz. earthy colours like Browns, Olive/dark greens or Khaki as bright colours startles the animals and birds.
  • Wear shoes, cloths which covers your hands and legs, avoid shorts.
  • Strictly follow the rules and regulations of the national park/Tiger reserve.
  • Always Listen to and follow the instructions of your guide and use a zoom lens to take close-up photos of wild animals
  • Keep safe distance and respect the animals and their natural habitat.
  • Stay calm and observe the animals & birds quietly and avoid making loud noises or sudden movements.
  • Pack out all your trash and litter. Do not throw anything in the park.
  • Stay hydrated and carry enough water and snacks.
  • Always carry your prescription medicines for any allergies related to dust or pollens, sunscreen, hats/caps, binoculars, camera with extra batteries, water bottle, warm cloths during winters

Don’ts

  • Strictly do not feed the animals or leave food unattended.
  • Do not litter or throw anything within the park, collect your trash and throw in appropriate dustbin outside the park.
  • Do not approach the animals too closely or try to touch them.
  • Do not make loud noises or sudden movements that can scare the animals and birds
  • Do not play any kind of music or sing out loud
  • Avoid using perfume or any sort of scent, as animals and birds are sensitive to smell.
  • Avoid carrying or using mobile phones
  • Do not smoke during the safaris
  • So not use flash photography or disturb the animals in anyways during their resting or feeding times
  • Do not pick anything from the forest may it be a flower, leaf, fruits, feathers etc.
  • Do not at any time embark from the jeep or stand on the seats of the jeep.
  • Avoid using flash photography as it can startle the animals.
  • Do not use selfie sticks that can harm the animals or their habitat.

Remember we are the guest in the home of animals and birds, we should always respect the nature in its true form. While all the sighting in the jungle whether its any animal or birds is not guaranteed mostly it is by chance/luck, do not be disappointed if you do not see any big cats, there are many other interesting things and other animals and birds to be seen, photographed and cherished.
