Tanzania Safaris !

Tanzania is one of Africa’s top safari destinations. The wildlife viewing is out of this world and big cats are especially easy to see. All members of the Big Five can be found in various Tanzanian parks and reserves, and all five are present in the Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti National Park.

The Serengeti National Park  is a Tanzanian national park in the Serengeti ecosystem in the Mara and Simiyu regions. It is famous for its annual migration of over 1.5 million white-bearded wildebeest and 250,000 zebra and for its numerous Nile crocodile and honey badger.

The park lies in northwestern Tanzania, bordered to the north by the Kenyan border, where it is continuous with the Maasai Mara National Reserve.

The park is worldwide known for its abundance of wildlife and high biodiversity.

Some rarely seen species of antelope are also present in Serengeti National Park, such as common eland, klipspringer, roan antelope, bushbuck, greater kudu, fringe-eared oryx and dik dik.

A Complete Big 5 sighting (lion, leopard, elephant, rhinoceros, and buffalo) is the capstone of a successful adventure for many safari-goers.

Ngorongoro Crater

It is considered one the wonders of the Natural World. The crater spreads for 102 sq. miles and has 2.000 ft high walls, making it virtually a Noah’s ark and inhabiting almost every species of wildlife that is indigenous to East Africa. It’s one of the very rare locations in the whole continent where you can witness the black Rhino. The concentration of African wildlife if the greatest in the continent. The crater has a river, several swamps, a soda lake with a great concentration of flamingos, a forest and open plains. It’s also famous for its elephants which are the largest in the world and have huge tusks. This is due to the rich mineral content of the volcanic soil and its grasses. Ngorongoro Crater is truly a Wonder of the Natural World.

The Ngorongoro Conservation area is a Unesco World Heritage spot that is situated between Manyara and Serengeti national parks. Plateaus, lakes, savannah, volcanoes, and the Ngorongoro Crater, lie within this conservation.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Tanzania is during late June through October, when the country is at its dryest. If you want to witness the wildebeest calving season, visit northern parks like the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area between December and March.

If you’re not too worried about catching the migration, then the best time to go on safari (whether you’re headed to the parks in the north or south) is during the long dry season. From June to October, the lack of rain means that animals are forced to congregate at the waterholes, making them much easier to spot. The foliage is less dense, too, which also helps. The weather is generally cooler and less humid
