One in the Morning and other in the Afternoon. Both Morning and Afternoon Safaris are for 4 hours. One Jeep Safari can Accommodate maximum 6 People. Safari timings of Tipeshwar National Park change according to the seasons. However, during the monsoon season, the park remains shut for tourists as it is a breeding season of the wild animals. Therefore, as a tourist attraction, the park remains open from 01st October to 30th June. In the winter season, the timings of the morning jeep safari in Tipeshwar National Park starts from 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Whereas, the evening safari starts from 2:00 PM which lasts till 6:00 PM. For the months of Summer, the safari timing changes and scheduled from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM for the morning batch and 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM for the evening batch.

Tipeshwar Wildlife Sanctuary currently operates safari entry through three gates:

1. Sunna Gate
2. Mathani (Mathai / Mathni) Gate
3. Kodori (Kodari) Gate

These gates provide access to different parts of the sanctuary for jeep safaris.

Unlike many larger tiger reserves, Tipeshwar does not have separate core and buffer zones; instead safaris operate through these entry gates that lead into the sanctuary’s forest tracks.

1. Sunna Gate (Most Recommended)

Sunna Gate is widely considered the best and most popular safari gate in Tipeshwar.

• Closest gate to Pandharkawada town (about 7 km)
• Good access to central tiger movement areas and waterholes
• Many resorts and stays are located near this gate
• Higher safari vehicle frequency and regular wildlife sightings

Because of these factors, most travellers and wildlife photographers prefer Sunna Gate for their first safari.

2. Mathani Gate

Mathani Gate provides access to a quieter side of the sanctuary.

• Located about 23 km from Pandharkawada
• Less tourist traffic
• Slightly denser forest habitat
• Good chances of spotting herbivores, sloth bears, and sometimes tigers

Experienced safari travellers often include one safari from Mathani to explore a different habitat.

The park is typically open from October to June, offering different wildlife experiences across seasons.

October – February (Winter)
Pleasant weather with lush forests. Ideal for birding and comfortable safaris.

March – April (Early Summer)
Vegetation begins thinning, increasing chances of wildlife sightings.

May – June (Peak Summer)
The best time for tiger sightings as animals gather around water sources.

The sanctuary remains closed during the monsoon season (July to September).

The sanctuary is best known for its Royal Bengal Tigers, with several resident males and breeding tigresses that make the sanctuary an emerging destination for tiger sightings. Other predators such as leopards, sloth bears, and wild dogs (dholes) are also occasionally seen. The forest sustains a healthy population of herbivores including sambar deer, spotted deer (chital), nilgai, barking deer, and wild boar, which form the primary prey base for the big cats. Tipeshwar is also home to a variety of birds such as crested serpent eagles, peafowl, Indian rollers, drongos, and hornbills, making it an enjoyable destination not only for tiger safaris but also for birdwatching and nature exploration.
